2022 Sawan Somwar fasting days for Delhi, NCT, India

Lord Shiva is honoured during the month of Shravan in the Hindu calendar. The entire month is regarded as lucky for requesting Lord Shiva's grace. During the Shravan month, devotees observe a variety of fasts to appease Lord Shiva. In North Indian states, the month of Shravan is also referred to as Sawan month. All Mondays or Somwar(s) that fall in the month of Shravan are known as Shravan Somwar or Sawan Somwar Vrats and are seen to be extremely auspicious for fasting. From the first Somwar of Sawan month, many devotees practise the Solah Somwar (16 Mondays) fast. Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva's wife, is honoured on every Tuesday, or Mangalwar, in the month of Shravan. The Mangal Gauri Vrat is a fast observed on Tuesdays during the Shravan month. During the month of Shravan, other auspicious days are Sawan Shivaratri and Hariyali Amavasya.
